What is Good Writing?

The way that we use our words have an everlasting effect on others, and are a special tool that make an impact. Writing is an important key to understanding the thoughts, feelings, and emotions of others. It also has the power to transform one's mind, filling it with knowledge as well as intelligence. Good writing does not necessarily have to be an entire book in length. Good writing comes from the ability to put one's thoughts in written words in a way that others can understand, feel, and experience the key points meant to get across to the reader. Good writing is simply an art form of expression.

Famous authors and poets throughout history are considered good writers because they influenced people with their choice of words, creative thinking, and organization of their writing. Shakespeare is perhaps the most well known poet of all time, and his writing is influential because of his creativity, use of words, and structure of his stories.

What makes good writing is not just using big words to make a statement, it is being real, honest, and genuine with words. Good writing needs to grab hold of the reader, keeping their attention. It is also imperative for the writer to have an understanding of who the audience is, and to whom they are trying to get their point across.
